What is a Monotub and how does it work?

Our Mondotub is a durable, enclosed growing container designed to keep your mushroom grow kits under optimal growing conditions, ensuring stable and controlled levels of humidity and temperature. 

The filtering system creates a sufficient air exchange allowing only clean air to enter, ensuring the grow kit to always have access to fresh oxygen. This also helps the kit from becoming contaminated from external exposure such as mold or other airborne contaminants.

It keeps condensation within the box, creating a highly humid environment which keeps the mycelium well hydrated giving mushrooms an ideal opportunity to thrive. Without proper humidity levels, the growth speed will be significantly reduced or lead to no-growth at all.

Keeping the grow kit in a stable environment helps to reduce environmental fluctuations that can negatively affect sensitive fungi e.g. causing them to malform. A stable climate reduces stress on the growing culture and supports uniform growth.

How to set it up

1. Place the box where it receives a lot of daylight without direct sunlight. Make sure the surface is stable enough e.g. a sturdy shelf or on the kitchen table
2. Cover the 12 pre-drilled holes with the included filter patches. The extra patches can be kept for whenever you need to change them. The filter patches can be reused a few times before being replaced as long as they remain clean.
3. Pour water directly in the bottom of the Mondotub and place the grow kit in the water. Close the box and let your grow kit flourish on its own.
4. Minor adjustments during the growing process may be needed in order to reach optimal growing conditions.
