Magic Mushroom Spores

Magic mushroom spores, in our range Psilocybe cubensis spores, are the dormant reproductive cells of the cubensis mushroom, offered here in three formats for microscopy, taxonomy and research: a 20 ml spore syringe, a sealed 10 ml spore vial or a spore swab. Syringes and vials cover nine classic lines; the 13 Magic Hybrid lines come as spore swabs. All spores are prepared under sterile lab conditions and contain no psilocybin.

Three formats, one species

Every product in this category holds spores of Psilocybe cubensis. What differs is the carrier. In a syringe or vial the spores sit in a sterile suspension, which makes it easy to put a drop on a microscope slide. A swab carries spores taken directly from a spore print. That keeps the sample compact and makes it the practical format for lines that produce relatively few spores.

In short: pick a spore syringe if you want to start looking at spores straight away, a spore vial if you want to hold a strain in storage and sample it later, and a swab if the strain you are after is one of the hybrids.

The nine classic lines

Syringes and vials come in the same nine strains: Golden Teacher, McKennaii, B+, Amazonian, Cambodia, Thai, Mazatapec, Mexicana and PES Hawaii. These are long-established cubensis lines with documented backgrounds, ranging from wild collections in Southeast Asia and Mexico to lab-selected lines. Golden Teacher, one of the most widely known cubensis strains, is the usual benchmark when other lines are compared.

The 13 Magic Hybrid lines

The spore swab hybrids are bred lines with features you will not find in the classics. There are albino and leucistic types (Avery's Albino, True Albino Teacher, Yeti, Jack Frost and Leucitic Jedi Mindfuck), strains with unusual pigmentation or bruising (Hillbilly Pumpkin, Rusty White, Blue Ghost and Blue Magnolia), the Penis Envy family with Penis Envy and Melmac, and two more classic-looking types, B- and Country Cock. Several of them, Penis Envy and Avery's Albino in particular, are known for reduced or near-absent spore production, which suits the swab format.

Storage and legal status

Keep syringes and vials in the fridge and leave them sealed until needed. Keep swabs unopened and handle them as little as possible. Spores are dormant, so they need no attention while stored. Psilocybe cubensis spores contain no psilocybin. They are sold for microscopy, taxonomy, educational and research purposes, and the legal status of spores differs per country, so check your local laws before ordering. If you are looking for living mycelium of a single line instead, that is what our liquid culture syringes are.

Frequently asked questions

Which spore format is best for microscopy?

For quick slide work the spore syringe is the easiest, because the 20 ml suspension is ready to draw. A sealed spore vial suits you better if you want to keep a strain for a while and sample it later. Swabs are the format for the 13 hybrids.

Are the strains the same in spore syringes and spore vials?

Yes. Both formats come in the same nine classic Psilocybe cubensis lines, from Golden Teacher to PES Hawaii. The difference is volume and packaging: 20 ml in a ready-to-use syringe versus 10 ml in a sealed vial.

Why are the hybrids only available as spore swabs?

Several hybrids, such as Penis Envy and Avery's Albino, are known for producing few spores. A swab taken straight from the spore print is a practical, compact way to supply a sample of lines like these.

Do Psilocybe cubensis spores contain psilocybin?

No. Psilocybe cubensis spores contain no psilocybin. They are sold for microscopy, taxonomy, educational and research purposes, but the legal status of spores differs per country, so check your local laws first.

How are Mondo spores prepared?

All spore syringes, vials and swabs are prepared and packed under sterile lab conditions. Syringes and vials are checked for quality before they ship.
