Magic Mushroom Liquid Cultures
A magic mushroom liquid culture is a 20 ml syringe of living Psilocybe mycelium in a sterile nutrient solution, taken from one selected culture rather than a mix of spores. This category holds 20 cultures: 19 Psilocybe cubensis strains, from Golden Teacher and B+ to Penis Envy and Jack Frost, plus one Psilocybe azurescens. Each comes with a needle and disinfectant wipes and is sold for microscopy, taxonomy, educational and research purposes.

One species, twenty strains, and one exception
Twenty of the cultures here belong to a single species, Psilocybe cubensis. Names like Golden Teacher, McKennaii or Jedi Mindfuck are strain names: lines within that species that have been selected and kept apart over the years. They share the same taxonomy but differ in how the mycelium and the mushrooms look, which is exactly what makes side-by-side comparison interesting.
The exception is Psilocybe azurescens. It is a separate species, not a cubensis strain, so it does not belong in a cubensis comparison and is listed here only because it is a mushroom-forming Psilocybe.
Which strains are in this category?
| Group | Cultures |
|---|---|
| Classic cubensis strains (10) | Golden Teacher, B+, McKennaii, Mazatapec, Mexicana, Cambodian, Thai, Amazonian, PES Hawaii, Red Boy |
| Newer lines and hybrids (9) | Penis Envy, Jack Frost, True Albino Teacher, Yeti, Blue Ghost, Blue Magnolia, Jedi Mindfuck, Hillbilly Pumpkin, B- |
| Other species (1) | Psilocybe azurescens |
How to choose a culture
If you have no particular strain in mind, Golden Teacher is the usual reference culture.
A more useful approach is to pick by what you want to study. Comparing a classic line such as Golden Teacher with an albino line such as True Albino Teacher shows clear visual differences. Some strains are also available as spores, so you can set living mycelium next to the spores of the same strain under the microscope. Nine cubensis strains are available as spore syringes, including Golden Teacher, B+, McKennaii and PES Hawaii.
Mexicana: mushroom or truffle?
The Mexicana in this category is a Psilocybe cubensis strain. It forms mushrooms only and never produces sclerotia. The truffle-forming species Psilocybe mexicana is a different fungus and sits under magic truffle liquid cultures.
Keeping a culture in good condition
A liquid culture is alive, so treat it like a fresh product rather than a shelf item. Keep it in the fridge at 2–8 °C from the moment you unpack it, never freeze it and keep it out of direct light. Shelf life is up to 2–3 months. If the solution looks unusually murky or smells off, do not use it and contact us.
All cultures are sold for microscopy, taxonomy, educational and research purposes. Check your local law before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
How many magic mushroom liquid cultures do you sell?
We stock 20 magic mushroom liquid cultures. Nineteen are Psilocybe cubensis strains and one is Psilocybe azurescens. Each comes as a 20 ml syringe with a needle and disinfectant wipes.
Is Psilocybe azurescens a cubensis strain?
No. Psilocybe azurescens is a separate species within the genus Psilocybe. It is grouped with the cubensis cultures because it is a mushroom-forming Psilocybe, not because it is related at strain level.
Which magic mushroom liquid culture is most popular?
Golden Teacher is the culture ordered most in our shop. That reflects popularity, not strength.
How long does a cubensis liquid culture keep?
Up to 2–3 months in the fridge at 2–8 °C. Do not freeze it. The mycelium is most active when the culture is fresh.
Can I get the same strain as a spore syringe?
For several strains, yes. Golden Teacher, B+, McKennaii, Mazatapec, Mexicana, Cambodian, Thai, Amazonian and PES Hawaii are also available as spore syringes, which lets you compare spores and living mycelium of the same strain.
