Grow Difficulty: Advanced – Slow and Selective Development

APE is intended primarily for experienced growers. Although the fully colonized bag eliminates the most technical preparation stages, this variety generally develops more slowly and less predictably than beginner-friendly strains such as Golden Teacher, B+ or Cambodian.

Its dense morphology and Penis Envy background make stable conditions especially important. Sudden fluctuations in temperature, excessive moisture and unnecessary handling can interfere with healthy development.

Genetic Background – A Pale Penis Envy Variety

APE belongs to the Penis Envy family of Psilocybe cubensis. It retains the thick, compact structure associated with this lineage while expressing greatly reduced pigmentation.

The name “Albino Penis Envy” is widely used within cultivation circles. However, pigmentation can vary between genetic isolations, and some examples may be more accurately described as leucistic rather than completely albino. Individual mushrooms may therefore range from bright white to cream or pale grey.

This variation is natural and does not mean that the wrong strain has been supplied.

Growth Characteristics – Pale, Thick & Compact

APE is associated with several recognizable fruiting characteristics:

Practical Notes

An elastic band is fitted around the bag to help prevent side pin growth. We recommend leaving the elastic band in place throughout the growing process.

One corner at the top of the bag has been cut off to support proper air circulation. After each air exchange, close this opening with the supplied sticker.
