Magic Mushroom Grow Kits
A magic mushroom grow kit is a tub of substrate already fully colonised with Psilocybe cubensis mycelium: you soak it, seal it in the supplied filter bag and wait for pins. We offer 16 strains. Nine classics come in Medium 750 cc, Large 1200 cc and Extra Large 2100 cc; seven special strains come in Large 1200 cc only. New to growing? What is in a Mondo grow kit
Inside the box you find the kit itself with its lid, a filter bag with a filter patch and a yellow seal sticker. The substrate has been inoculated and fully colonised before it ships, so there are no spores, no sterilising and no waiting for mycelium to grow through. Your part is the fruiting stage.
How a grow kit works
- Soak: fill the kit with cold drinking water, close the lid and put it in the refrigerator for 9–12 hours (up to 24 hours is fine).
- Bag: drain it, pour exactly 150 ml of drinking water into the bottom of the filter bag (the same for every size), place the kit inside, keep air in the bag, fold the top twice and close it with the yellow seal sticker.
- Climate: a steady 23–25 °C, kept below 27 °C, in bright indirect light and never in direct sun.
- Wait: keep the bag closed until pins show, often after 6–14 days. Once they appear, give fresh air 1–3 times a day and stop misting.
- Harvest: pick when the veil under the cap starts to tear, typically 2–4 weeks after sealing the bag. Follow the kit, not the calendar.
- Repeat: remove leftovers, disinfect the lid and soak again for the next flush. Most kits give 2–4 flushes, with later ones smaller.

The routine is identical for every size. A larger kit gives larger flushes, not more flushes, so choose by how much substrate you want per harvest. If you use a heat mat, always put a silicone heat guard between mat and kit; the options are under heat mats.
Top 10 or Special Strains?
We split the range in two to make choosing easier. The top 10 magic mushroom grow kits are the ten our customers order most, led by Golden Teacher, McKennaii and Amazonian, and most of them are rated easy. The special strains are seven Large-only kits such as Penis Envy, Yeti and Jack Frost, mostly rated advanced because they grow slower and react more to small mistakes. Penis Envy and Jedi Mind Fuck appear in both lists; Thai, an easy classic in all three sizes, is in neither.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a magic mushroom grow kit take to grow?
First pins often appear 6–14 days after you seal the kit in its filter bag, and the first harvest typically follows 2–4 weeks after sealing. Temperature has the biggest effect: below 23 °C everything slows down. Judge by the mushrooms, not the calendar.
How many flushes do you get from one grow kit?
Usually 2–4 flushes in total, each one smaller than the one before. Between flushes you remove leftovers, disinfect the lid and repeat the cold soak. Penis Envy sits at the low end, typically giving 2–3 smaller flushes.
Can I store a magic mushroom grow kit before starting it?
Yes, closed in the refrigerator at 3–5 °C. Ideally start it within 2 weeks of delivery (it keeps for up to 3 months), because fresh mycelium responds best to the first soak.
Do I need a heat mat for a grow kit?
Only if your room cannot hold 23–25 °C. Use the 5 W mat for a Medium 750 cc kit and the 7 W mat for Large 1200 cc and Extra Large 2100 cc, always with a silicone heat guard in between.
